Carey Locklar

Carey Locklar married her high school sweetheart and earned her BS and MS degrees in Accounting from the University of South Alabama.  She received her CPA certification from the state of Alabama and worked for five years as an auditor and Senior Accountant.

When her first child was born, she turned her attention to raising her children full time.  Her husband’s job as a chemical plant manager has led her family to follow the Lord and raise their four kids on three different continents.  Her children have thrived in a variety of educational environments including private Christian school, international schools with IB curriculums, and homeschooling.  Her greatest prayer for her kids’ education has been for all of the academic subjects to be built on the Truth of God’s Word.  She is eternally grateful for the discipleship, guidance and love her two oldest children have received at Scholars as they continue their academic careers and is delighted to contribute to this special place.

When she’s not homeschooling her children, she enjoys studying God’s Word and sharing it with others.  She helps to lead a life group Bible study at her church, Houston Northeast Church, alongside her husband and enjoys writing and sharing the weekly devotional lessons at Christian Homeschool Fellowship Co-op.

Carey’s other big loves are people and food.  She loves to travel and learn about new people and cultures by experiencing their food.  She also enjoys evangelistic outreach to her neighbors by opening her home for monthly potluck meals, prayer meetings and other Gospel sharing opportunities…often involving food.
